Well, after having been Bug-less since 1985 or so, I now have in my greedy little grasp, ANOTHER BUG!!!
She's a cute little '72 Beetle with a 4-speed stick that had been sitting neglected in a field in Palmdale for about 5 years. My mechanic sold her to me for $500, and almost any Bug in running condition is worth 'WAY more than that!
I basically stole her.
Took her on her first real shakedown cruise "down below" (us AV'ers term for the L.A. side of the San Gabriel Mountains) with the operative word being "shake." And smoke. I gave her a complete flush and oil change yesterday, only Castrol GTX for my Bug. Got new Bosch plugs, too, but haven't put 'em in yet. Will be treating her to a front-end alignment and new shocks soon, too. But, she made it there and back!
Soon, she will be an official Starfleet shuttlecraft attached to my own starship, the U.S.S. Don Diego NCC-1840, designated #7, the El Zorro.
Here are before and after pix. She doesn't look like "after" yet, but isn't Photoshop a wonderful thing?
